AGNOSIA

This poster design was a personal project inspired by the song Agnosia by Valleyheart. This poster includes my own illustration as well as my own photography. It is part of a batch of posters designs I had been experimenting with in Photoshop, and this one is my favourite.

PROCESS

I decided to find a photo I took that could be a cool background for a poster, and when thinking about what I could put over top, I saw this painting of the reaching hands in my Pictures folder. This digital painting was originally an entry as a potential art piece for a local organization that helps youth with disabilities, but another piece was selected, so I never ended up really doing anything with it. I thought it would be cool for this poster, having no concrete idea in mind admittedly. At the time, I was just experimenting outside my comfort zone/usual work, and just going with the flow.

CHALLENGES

Originally, I was going to go for a more edgy look and feel, but I wasn't totally vibing with it. I had a playlist going and the song Agnosia by Valleyheart came on. The chorus goes: "All I know is letting go of you / All I know is letting go / Take my hand I'm drowning deep and slow / All I know is letting go". I thought wow, these lyrics couldn't fit more perfectly with the design of this. So, I changed the vibe completely and instead went for a washed out vintage look, with the lyrics in big bold text.

FINAL RESULT

Overall, I'm pleased with how this turned out, as simple as it may be. I like the faded retro feel, and want to continue to explore with similar designs as I've been having a lot of fun with them!
